What does it support?
The project must combine real-time water-quality monitoring, evaluation of on-site testing equipment, investigation of facility design and risk factors, review of relevant water-quality parameters, and validation of sampling approaches. The work should produce evidence and practical solutions for water playgrounds rather than address an isolated technology component.
Who can apply?
Private-sector companies, institutes of higher learning and research institutes may apply. The research and test-bedding must take place in Singapore, and the detailed RFP conditions govern the proposed project. Local-shareholding conditions remain to be confirmed.
How does the support work?
For private-sector applicants, the co-funding rates are 50% for SMEs and 30% for non-SMEs, applied to qualifying direct costs. Awards are capped at S$1.5 million per proposal and operate through milestone reimbursement with the required reporting and audit conditions.
What expenditure can qualify?
Potentially qualifying direct costs include research activity, equipment, materials, sensors, prototype testing and demonstration expenditure accepted under the RFP. Private-sector indirect costs are not supported. A project's budget must distinguish qualifying direct costs from expenditure the applicant must finance itself.
Key conditions
- Address all five components of the RFP.
- Keep the proposed project within the permitted three-year duration.
- For a private-sector research project exceeding S$500,000 in total budget, a public research partner is required.
- The corresponding collaboration threshold for a demonstration or test-bedding project is S$2 million in total budget.
- Confirm the full collaboration, audit and milestone requirements against the RFP before submission.
Timing and application process
The call opened on 4 September 2026. Submit the proposal and prescribed RFP templates to [email protected] by 20 November 2026 at 11:00 SGT. Check all required attachments; proposals received after the closing date and time are not considered.
Important programme distinctions
This is a defined research and demonstration call, rather than an ongoing equipment-purchase subsidy. The S$1.5 million ceiling applies to each awarded proposal. Collaboration thresholds depend on the type and total budget of the private-sector project.
